Melodi - ADOPTED! 

We are so excited that Melodi has been adopted into a wonderful home!! It's taken a long time, but in God's time she has finally found her forever home!

Adoption Fee: $300 / Approx. Age: 8 yrs.

 We have had so many inquiries about adopting Melodi, but whoever adopts her MUST be an experienced rider who trains natural horsemanship. But, thank you to everyone for your inquiries! 

She needs to be adopted by someone who has trained or worked hands-on with rescue horses.  She has severe emotional issues which causes her to act out.  She has been working with one of our trainers for a couple of months.  Melodi saddles up easily, even the girth, but she will buck once you get on her.  She also will buck if she is lunged with the saddle on her back.  Without the saddle, she lunges beautifully. Melodi needs a home where she can get a lot of one-on-one handling/training.

Melodi's Story:  Melodi is a 14hh Chestnut Quarterhorse mare, approximately 8 years of age. Melodi was underweight when she came to us. She had been standing knee high in mud and was afraid of everyone and everything when she was rescued. Because Melodi's mane was so tangled and intertwined, we cut it to about one inch.  We tried everything from baby oil to cowboy magic and even cowboy magic couldn't get it detangled!  Her tail was one HUGE knotted mass! We tried to leave some long strands of tail so she could use them to swat flies until the rest of her tail grows back. When it does, she will have an amazingly beautiful thick tail. Melodi has a lot of scars all over her.  She either got tangled in some fencing, or was severely beaten. She has a very large scar on her face that looks as if a halter had grown into her face.  She is also very sensitive around the top of her head and in the poll area which would make me believe the halter was too tight.  We have worked with her on touching her head, face and neck and she does much better, but she still has a long way to go.

As we cannot use Melodi in our Programs, we need to find her a safe and secure home where she will get the proper training and care she needs and lots of LOVE!

UPDATE:  Melodi has been out to a trainer who trained western and she did wonderful.  Back at our ranch, she is currently being trained in the english discipline and has a beautiful w/t/c!
