Ground Program

For those who are not interested, or are afraid, to get up into the saddle, come visit us and spend some time grooming and talking to the horses. If you have a fear of horses, take a step now to come out and and learn about the horses and see how they can help you overcome your fears!  They all love the attention and you will be encouraged to come back and visit them often!  If you are interested in learning how to clean hooves, bathe and shave the horses, we can teach you to do that also.  You will form a bond with the horses and be surprised at what awesome animals they are.  You may even desire to get up onto their backs!  Surprises are endless here!

Riding Program

Hold your Horses – beginner riders

Those who are just learning about horses – they need to learn all about the horse, safety and grooming.  They can go up in the saddle, but only at a walk and in a small ring or on a leadline. Helmet a must for minors!

Saddle Up – intermediate riders

Those who have experience with horses already and are able to get the saddle on the horse by themselves and get up on the horse.  Those who have already trotted a horse or who are graduating from Hold your Horses.  Helmet a must for minors!

Let’s Ride – experienced riders

Those who are very experienced with horses.  They have shown or trained a horse and have walked, jogged, trotted, cantered, and/or galloped or who are graduating from Saddle Up.  Helmet a must for minors!

As everyone develops at their own speed, we do not put a set time as to when each student graduates to the next level.  Please do not ask us to advance your child!  Our staff is knowledgeable and can determine when each child should advance.  Remember, safety is always first at our facility! We care about each student and each student's safety!

*We are not NARHA certified or wheelchair accessible. If you are looking for a facility for the handicapped, please visit www.harmonyfarmsinc.com

We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.  All donations are tax deductible. Both parents of all children must sign a Waiver of Liability and may not drop a child off and leave without prior approval.  All volunteers must agree to a background check prior to working with the children and horses.

Additional Programs we are, or will be, offering to help children succeed in life!

Mentoring/Reading & Math - to help children succeed in reading/comprehension and math. Starting March 27th, we will be offering 'Kids 'n K9's' - reading with the dogs once a month.

Animal Care, Ethics & Responsibility – teach every person who comes upon the property of G.E.R.T.H., the proper way to care for, treat and handle the horses and other animals on the property.  With undertaking the responsibility of a pet, there are many aspects to ownership.

Red Ribbon Week – (October 23-31)discuss the effects of drugs on their lives and the lives of others if they choose to do drugs or get involved in drug related activities. Everyone takes a pledge against drugs, they sign a petition and get a ribbon and other RRW related items.

S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere - October 18-22) – discuss the effects of violence if they are the one with the anger problems and where it can lead [prison].  Everyone takes a pledge against violence, they sign a petition and get a ribbon and other S.A.V.E. related items.  If they have anger problems, have them begin counseling and possibly attend an anger management program.

Escape School - Dignity Memorial Escape School is a nationally recognized abduction prevention program that empowers children and parents by providing them with ways to recognize, avoid or escape potentially dangerous situations.  It also deals with internet abduction prevention which is so prevalent in today’s society.

Anger Management Class - Begins Tuesday, April 13, 2010 (click for details) – 2x per year [or as is necessary] offer an anger management class for adults and children alike by Dr. Robert Bowers, Court approved Anger Management facilitator.  We will also provide counselors for children and adults alike who would like to work with a counselor in healing.

Six Pillars of Character – teach the children, as well as the adults, the six pillars of character, i.e. trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring & citizenship.

Food, Clothes & Toy Drives – teach everyone the importance of helping others in need by having them get involved in food, clothes and toy drives for outreach programs throughout the year.

Missions – teach the importance of missionaries and the work they do for God.  Also, do fundraising and prayer sessions for missionaries.

Soldiers – teach the importance of what soldiers do for our freedom and our country.  Also, do fundraising and prayer sessions for soldiers.

Collecting cans & can tabs for Ronald McDonald House - have a continual soda can collection to raise funds and can tabs to bring to the Ronald McDonald House located in Orlando, Florida.

This will help everyone realize the importance of recycling for our environment and also show them that, by recycling these cans, we can raise money to give to those in need.  Also, by taking the can tabs off of the cans before recycling them, we can also do a charity outreach for the Ronald McDonald House.

Dance & Karate - We would hope to be able to offer a dance and karate class as we grow.  Both of these activities help a child build confidence, teach them discipline and give them a sense of accomplish-ment.  We would be open to other sport related activities if someone wanted to head up a program of basketball or football. These sports would also help a child build confidence, teach them discipline and help them be a team player.

Black Stallion Literacy Program - Upon moving to a larger facility, we would like to join up with the public school system, and private schools, to offer the Black Stallion Literacy Program.  This is a Program that teaches children about horses and, at the same time, gets them excited about reading by giving each child The Black Stallion books to read.
